Image Development

For this assignment, I had to demonstrate my knowledge of Photoshop by manipulating a single image three ways.

I started with an iconic photo of Twiggy and began playing around with the tools I had learned in class. My first thought was to manipulate the image to resemble pop art because of its popularity in the late 50s and Twiggy’s popularity not long after in the 60s. Inspired by the 60s theme and the use of psychedelics during that time, I next altered the image to look as if the viewer was looking through a kaleidoscope. With final presentation in mind, I was focused on having the colorful image in the middle, with the outsides being the same colors as the original photo. At first, my third alteration of the photo gave her the illusion of having cracked skin, like a glass doll having a cracked face. However, the image was not different enough from the original and could not be used. I had to think completely outside of the box and ended up with Twiggy’s face being the foam in a latte. To date, this is my favorite assignment from college.
